The Union Church Register - Before & After the Split

We know that this "Union" church split sometime in mid May of 1906 or after. Apparently, the split must have occurred after March 11, 1907, because the church roll (above) of active members includes both groups of people who were involved in the split. Or, the Union Cumberland Presbyterian church clerk (C.T. Haston) was just reluctant to give up those members who chose to affiliate with the other denomination.

The "Union Church Reorganized" church roll (below) for June 13, 1909 only includes those who decided to remain Cumberland Presbyterians and who eventually, after a brief loss of possession, regained and retained control of the church property.

All of the previous Union Church lists appear to have been written by C. T. Haston. Mr. Haston died on August 8, 1929. Thus, the remaining membership lists were compiled and kept by other people.

**1911 Members of Hickory Valley Presbyterian U.S.A. Church**

This roll of members for the Hickory Valley Presbyterian Church (PC-USA) was published in the McMinnville Presbytery (PC-USA) minutes for the September 14-15, 1911 session of that presbytery. The meeting for that session was held at the Hickory Valley Presbyterian Church. When compared to earlier Union Church records, it is evident that the core of this Hickory Valley Presbyterian Church consisted of former Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church members.
